Hello & welcome!

Here you find us with our first blog post, over time this part of the site will be used for keeping you updated with showroom news, lighting inspiration, events, exciting new releases and even general decor ideas giving you insight into the ever changing world of lighting.

With the blog we will be answering your many questions, anything from "what can I put in my kitchen?" to "is there anything I can put outside that isn't going to rust away during a long Cornish winter?" and even the wildly confusing "what exactly is a LED light bulb and what on Earth is meant by Lumens?"

So what's new?

Some of our regular customers may already have noticed the work going on here at County Lights. So much has happened in the last 6 months it would be tough to tell you everything and there is still so much more to come.

To start let us introduce you to our newest member of the showroom team, Odile. Joining us in February Dilly as she prefers is a soon to be an interior design graduate with a flair for making beautiful things out of just about anything she finds including turning a door into a table and her current favourite- concrete everything!

Piece by piece we have also started our much needed journey into adapting the layout of the showroom and creating boards for the walls. With this more modular display system you'll find yourself able to see the way the light will fall against walls without interference, how shadows cast playful patterns and you'll be able to browse the lighting with greater ease.

Let's give a huge thanks to Crispian for the wonderful idea and all of his hard work in bringing all of this together!

What's to come?

All things do it yourself-

We have a specialised display unit from Luke Povey of Chipfix, a Penzance based furniture designer who builds magnificent bespoke 'flat pack' plywood furniture to house our light bulb area.

Not only will you find every type of decorative light bulb you can imagine, we will also provide you with all you need for DIY lighting such as shade making kits, beautiful lamp holders, ceiling roses and coloured braided flex.

If you're a keen lamp maker or just fancy something personal in your home, let us know what you need. If it's not in stock we will gladly order it in.

Comprehensive kitchen lighting-

Also on route to the showroom is our new kitchen area. Here you will see examples of kitchen lighting within a bespoke kitchen display from local expert kitchen craftsman George Robinson.

With our kitchen display we hope to give you inspiration for the many, many ways in which you can use lighting to transform the most used room in the home. Banish shadowy kitchen sides and say 'no' to your pantry being the dingy place spices go to stand sad, unused and forgotten.

But what else?

Following our renovation plan we've also cast eyes on rearranging the garden and bathroom, bringing in more soft furnishings and giving you the kind of interior inspiration you can't find online.

We always welcome feedback, if you wish there was more of anything in particular here at the showroom- let us know.

& stay tuned for more updates on our progress, it's going to be exciting.

As well as display changes we've even updated our stationary and logo design.
